In this Bachelor’s degree, you will discover the artistic and professional environment of the art market sector. 

Teachings linked with art works and art knowledge make up 60% of the programme, while the remaining 40% revolve around the knowledge of the professional environment and its practices.

Outcomes at the end of the course:

  • European and extra-European global art history.
  • Styles and shapes history of art pieces, furnitures, decorative arts.
  • Professional environment of the art market.
  • Uses et practices for commercialization of art works and pieces.
  • Initiation to expertise of art works and pieces.

With the choice of a specialization option in one of the two major areas of the sector during the second year, you can deepen your knowledge of art works, artists, professional practices, linked to antique and art objects or visual and contemporary arts.

The pedagogical programme balances between theoritical and professional teachings, with the obligation to validate at least seven months of internship (full time or 14 weeks half time) during the 3 years of Bachelor.

Third year is validated with the realization of a professional project, including alternating individual and group work.

The Bachelor in Art Market opens an access to various assistant jobs alongside artists’ agents of auction halls, art galleries, communication agencies or media specialized in artistic promotion, or auctioneer.

The job of Counselor – expert in art objects leads you to work in an antique, decoration store, art gallery, a museum shop or an art center.

You analyse, study and research elements to authenticate an art work.

You follow the rating of the artworks and artists and counsel in purchase and sales.

You participate in the elaboration of exhibitions.

The skills :

As Counselor-expert in art works and in decoration, you develop a double set of competences in art and business.
You can recognize an art piece, an object and define its retail value.
You know where to find the information and how to assemble it to permit authentification.

You know the artists workshops, where and how to sell and promote an artist to collaborate to the implementation of exhibitions or auction house sales.

  • You like to move, be it to visit artists’ workshops, or to look for art pieces.
  • Intuitive, you are interested in patterns evolution, from contemporary creation to heritage conservation.

Artistic communication manager

In direct contact with the head of communication, you install all the communication projects in link with the different cultural and artistic demonstrations that you must put into light.

Double-check or write the press release, marketing operations, prints and web supports, etc.

Actually you're everywhere and without you, there would be no good information transmission.

Communication director

The communication director has for mission to promote the image of his company within its environment.

He defines its global communication strategy and drives its realization at national or international scale, in harmony with the general direction.

Development officer

Under direct authority of the executive board, you ensure an expertise and counseling mission, conceive or participate in projects conception and put in place the actions linked with an increased visibility of art market, be it via an antique shop or an auction house.

Clever and communicative, you are capable to adapt to all interlocutors to make the market and artwork issues you are representing evolve.

Expert in Art

You are here to authentificate objects and artworks.

You determine the nature, value, period, often the author. The value often depends on the quality of the conservation. You love precision and research, sometimes capital to confort your expertise and deliver a reliable estimate.

By becoming expert, you open a door of a world at the edge of science, art and investigation.

Galery manager

You participate in all activities of an art galery.

You are in charge of customer relationship, meaning the welcoming, the relations with the art market professionals (experts, auctioneer), sales advices.

You deal with the exhibitions' installation, the participation to national and international demonstrations. You keep an eye on the administrative functioning of the galery.

Patronage and investment manager

Multi-skilled, you help the patron and direct the project on all its aspects.

More and more current in France, your mission will be to chose projects to sustain in evaluating its potential for the company or institution that you represent.

It's up to you to establish the best strategy for your institution and for the patronage action you develop.
