Art Market

The EAC Bachelor Art Market allows to discover a panel of artistic and professional environment.
Teachings linked with art creation and art knowledge are up to 60% of the programme, while the remaining 40% revolve around the knowledge of the professional environment and practices.

Outcomes at the end of the BA :

  • European and extra-European art history.
  • Styles and shapes history of art pieces, furniture, decorative arts.
  • Art Market professional environment.
  • Uses et practices for commercialization of artworks and pieces.
  • Initiation to expertise of artworks and pieces.

With the choice of a specialization in one of the two major areas during second year, you can deepen your knowledge of artworks, artists, professional practices, linked to antique and art objects or visual and contemporary arts.
The pedagogical content balances between theory and professional teachings, with the obligation to validate at least seven months of internship (or 14 weeks part-time) all along the 3 years of BA.
Third year is validated by a professional project realization, including individual and group work.

CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION :

  • 1st year : hold a baccalaureate.

The Bachelor in Art Market opens an access to various assistant jobs alongside artists’ agents of auction halls, art galleries, communication agencies or media specialized in artistic promotion, or auctioneer.

The job of Counselor – expert in art objects leads you to work in an antique, decoration store, art gallery, a museum shop or an art center.

You analyse, study and research elements to authenticate an art work.

You follow the rating of the artworks and artists and counsel in purchase and sales.

You participate in the elaboration of exhibitions.

The skills :

As Counselor-expert in art works and in decoration, you develop a double set of competences in art and business.
You can recognize an art piece, an object and define its retail value.
You know where to find the information and how to assemble it to permit authentification.

You know the artists workshops, where and how to sell and promote an artist to collaborate to the implementation of exhibitions or auction house sales.

The profile :

  • You like to share your passion for art
  • You like to move, be it to visit artists’ workshops, or to look for art pieces.
  • Intuitive, you are interested in patterns evolution, from contemporary creation to heritage conservation.
  • You like history and its relation to artistic creation.
